Nutcracker Auditions: Childrens Lead Roles

This year the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet will one again be auditioning for the children's lead roles of Clara, the Nutcracker Prince and the Rat King in the Mount Baker Ballet production of "The Nutcracker". Any child enrolled at the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet, level II and above is eligible for these lead parts. Many other delightful roles are available for children which require no audition.   The 2007 audition will be held Friday, September 14th, 2007 at 4:30pm at the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet, 1412 Cornwall Avenue in Bellingham. Enrolled students will receive an information form regarding Nutcracker auditions in their September 2007 ballet classes.To be considered for one of these parts, a child must audition on the date specified. The child cast as Clara will be notified after the audition, and will need to be available for a photo session. The Rat King and Nutcracker Prince will be notified at their next ballet class. Children should come dressed as they would dress for a normal class. There is no charge for the audition. REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE COMMITMENT FOR CHILDREN'S LEAD ROLES 2007 NUTCRACKER:    Rehearsals for Clara, the Rat King and the Nutcracker Prince will be on Thursdays 3:30-4:45pm beginning on Thursday, September 27th. "Clara" will additionally need to attend party scene rehearsals on Fridays 4:30-6:15pm commencing October 5th. Clara will also need to attend the Mother Ginger rehearsals at 4:45pm on Thursdays beginning October 4th. Children selected for these three lead parts will be expected to attend all their rehearsals and ALL the run-through rehearsals TBA, usually involving several Friday and Saturday dates most likely in late November and early December 2007. A missed rehearsal can result in forfeiture of the part. Tardiness will not be acceptable. Children MUST be on time for all Nutcracker rehearsals. The Mount Baker Theatre stage performance is December 15th, 2007. The children (Clara, Prince, Rat King) will also have an additional rehearsal (TBA) for the special Studio Concert length Nutcracker performance on Dec. 8th, 2007. OTHER CHLDREN'S ROLES IN NUTCRACKER There are numerous other roles available for children to participate in the Mount Baker Ballet "Nutcracker" production. Your child will bring home a handout from the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet in the early fall outlining the rehearsal dates and ballet level appropriate for these other parts in the Nutcracker. Children need not audition to be considered for these other parts. Participating in the Nutcracker is not a requirement of students, it is an honor and an enjoyable experience children will cherish for a lifetime.

OTHER FUN CHILDRENS ROLES IN THE NUTCRACKER: Children enrolled in the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet are eligible for other fun childrens roles in the Mount Baker Ballet "Nutcracker" which require no audition. Please watch for a hand out your child will be given in September ballet class with more detailed information on these roles and their required rehearsals days.
