The Mt. Baker Ballet has had a rich heritage in the Whatcom/Skagit County area, performing widely, locally and nationally since it's inception in 1975. Alumni from the company have performed in world-class and national companies and won scholarships to the prestigious professional schools and to university dance programs. Coupled with excellent classes, membership in the Mount Baker Ballet company provides exciting performing opportunities geared to help all members reach their full potential as future dance professionals or as dance hobbyists.

REHEARSALS:

Rehearsals for the 2007-2008 MBB season will be scheduled most usually on Saturdays 3-5pm, Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7-8:30pm, and at other times as scheduling permits. Rehearsal schedules are posted every two weeks, giving advance notice for rehearsals scheduled at other times.

PERFORMANCES:
The Mount Baker Ballet's most enduring annual production of
The Nutcracker will celebrated their 32nd season  with their December 15th, 2007 full Nutcracker performance at the Mount Baker Theatre. This years MBB Nutcracker featured guest artists from Pacific Northwest Ballet, Chalnessa Eames and Benjamin Griffiths. A number of other "Community Outreach" smaller Concert Version Nutcracker performances by MBB were also scheduled. An intimate studio performance took place on Saturday, December 8th at 4pm at the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet. This shorter Concert Version performance is free to members of the community, seating is casual and on the floor.

The Mt. Baker Ballet debuts their new spring repertoire each year in their annual "
Dance Into Spring" concert. Later in the season they will perform selections of their new repertoire again at the Mount Baker Theatre.

Additional performance and educational opportunities arise each year. Nancy Whyte School of Ballet (The MBB Training School)  was the
Show Sponsor for the Mt Baker Theatre performance of Aspen Santa Fe Ballet in 2005 and both MBB company members and students were given special access to the Aspen Sante Fe Ballet master class on the Mt. Baker Theatre mainstage. Mount Baker Ballet company members appeared in a television commerical for Wilson Toyota filmed onstage at the Mt. Baker Theatre with the new Camry model in 2006. The Mount Baker Ballet also gave an informal free performance for the community, as part of their Community Outreach program,  of "Peter and the Wolf" in autumn 2006, and the traditional children's story returned this season on October 27th, 2007.

TRAINING CLASSES:
Level VI-VIII ballet classes, mandatory for MBB company members,  are held Tuesday 6-7:30pm, Thursday 5:30-7pm, and Saturday 12:30-2pm. Some company members may be assigned to lower level classes which are held at other times. All company members are required to attend ballet classes four times each week.
