    Here in Bellingham, Washington,  memories of the Nutcracker Ballet run deep. The magical ballet favorite of the Mount Baker Ballet is a thrilling highlight of their 32nd annual season in 2007 and a much anticipated event during Christmas festivities in Whatcom County. During the holidays, we often find our hearts and mind looking to days gone by. This same fond reminiscing also touches the hearts of dancers, young and old, their families and the community as they recall decades of Nutcracker performances by the Mount Baker Ballet.

     It has been an honor to peruse the family photos of  Nutcracker dancers over the years, whether they participated as Mt. Baker Ballet company members or as young children selected to participate in the production from the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet. Selections from these photos have been included on this page. Since the distraction of flash photography is not allowed at live performances, you'll see that many of these Nutcracker pictures were candid moments captured backstage or in costume at home.

    Another delightful aspect of these Nutcracker memories is seeing a contemporary member of the Mount Baker Ballet in a years old snap shot from when they appeared in the Nutcracker as a very young child. Since the Mt. Baker Ballet Nutcracker is re-cast each year, you will also see a variety of dancers in the childrens lead roles of Clara, the Prince and the Rat King.
