SUMMER DANCE WORKSHOPS 2008

The most positive dance experience you can give your child...Summer Dance Workshops. Renowned dance educator Nancy Whyte has formulated a dance workshop program for children which offers fun and challenges for children at every level. The fun Bellingham summer dance programs are designed for children ages 4 and older. They include daily dance classes with music, dance history, creative expression, mime, nutrition, anatomy, ballet videos and much, much more. Summer Dance course descriptions are listed in detail below. All classes are held at the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet in downtown Bellingham, WA.

Dance Workshop I 4.5-6 year olds For beginning students as well as those who have already been in a dance program. In addition to a daily class, children learn about and watch famous classical ballet and explore their own creativity through exercises in mime and dramatic interpretation. Students also learn valuable lessons about anatomy, health and nutrition, dance history and vocabulary. Every child goes home with their own Dance Workshop Memories Scrapbook---that they've created themselves! Class meets daily 10-11:30 a.m., June 17-20, 2008 (45 minutes dance class, 45 minutes Dance Workshop activities) Cost: $85 (four 1.5 hour sessions) Dance Workshop II 6-7 year olds (8 year olds with no previous experience) Geared for children whose skills are more developed. Includes a daily dance class, ballet video, music, dance history, nutrition, anatomy and dramatic interpretation. Students create their own Dance Workshop Memories Scrapbook.. Class meets daily 1:30-3:15 p.m.., June 17-20, 2008 (1 hour dance class, 45 minute Dance Workshop activities) Cost: $85 (four 1.75 hour sessions) Dance Workshop III 8-12 year olds (with 3 or more years' experience) This really fun new program was our most popular workshop offered last summer, so we're bringing it back again for Summer 2006! This dance workshop is geared for children who have a level 3 technical attainment. Sesion 1:  Tues. & Thurs., 1-2:45pm, July 7-18, 2008 Sesion 2:  Daily, 2-4:30pm, Aug. 5-8, 2008 (1 hour ballet technique, 45 minutes Dance Workshop activities, 45 minutes modern dance or jazz) Cost: $100 (four 2.5 hour sessions) Dance Workshop IV 13 years and older, Intermediate Level The Intermediate level summer dance camp session offers a full morning of ballet, enjoyable and challenging with both pointe and jazz rounding out the each days curriculum. Session 1: Class meets Mon., Tues.,& Thurs, 10am-12:45pm TBA (1.5 hour ballet, 30 min. pointe or pre-pointe for those not yet on pointe, 45 min. jazz) Instructor Jessica Crook Cost $175 (for six 2.75 sesions) Session 2: Class meets daily 10am-12:45 p.m., August 5-8, 2008 (1.5 hour ballet technique, 30 minutes pointe, 45 minutes jazz) Instructor is Nancy Whyte. Cost: $125 (four 2.75 hour sessions) MORE!!! Intermediate & Advanced Summer Ballet

After an hour of ballet, these students are learning some dance history and having a healthy snack. The summer dance camp participants will then continue to their modern and jazz dance technique portion of the days activities.

Summer dance students in Bellingham combine artwork, worksheets, informative handouts on nutrition, dance history and technique to create their own Dance Workshop Memories Scrapbook. The booklet helps reinforce lessons learned in the summer and provides a useful reference during the next years ballet classes.
